About Ericka Kurz
1968-1993

Ericka grew up in a two-family childhood with her mother in North Carolina, and her father in Wisconsin. She attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (1987 – 1991) where she helped create the Student Environmental Activist Coalition.

Ericka co-chaired the first ever college ecology conference. She was one of a group of speakers that included Caesar Chavez at the SEAC conference in Chicago. By senior year, she was working as a paid ecology activist, to the detriment of her GPA! SEAC now has thousands of members around the world.
