When I Created the World
When I created the world
I left some rough spots and some crack pots
And some places to be where it hurts lots
But there was no one to tell
How dim the skies could look to eyes
That can’t see around the world to where the sun lies
Hope you’re still speaking to me
I don’t mind if you’re rude, I’m kinda tired of being wooed
By some ecstatic on a mountain in a postcard mood
And I want to change things
Although it’s gotten out of hand, there is this one thing
We can do to understand, and open
Like a new eye, to you and I
And this eye shall be yours
It’ll curve around the up and down
And the edges and lines that kept you bound
And this eye shall be filled
With the now and then and the women and men
And the pieces that will never be lost again
And as we see eye to eye
That the Seamstress and her seam are one
There’ll be a lot less hurt and a lot more fun
And we can change things
Although it’s gotten out of hand, there is this one thing
We can do to understand and open
Like a new eye, to you and I
To how, and why, and earth, and sky
And you and I
